Enjoying Early Spring And All That It Brings
Each day, the breeze blows a little warmer, the grass gets a little greener, and the sun shines a little brighter—all signs that we’ve entered my favorite season, Spring! Now that the windows can stay open, I’m excited to hang up my new songbird wind chimes. Their tinkling sounds are a pretty reminder of our beautiful feathered friends who are on their way back to their familiar homes. As a devoted bird watcher, I always feel so honored when they take a moment out of their busy nest-building and mate-finding schedule to serenade me with their lovely songs. With Spring comes rain and the soothing, restful sound it makes. Even when skies are clear, I like to listen to the sound of the trickling water from my frog fountains just outside my window, as I unwind with a good book or indulge in a nap. Indoors, two adorable Springtime lasses brighten my surroundings—the Precious Moments™ Pansy and Frog dolls! This weekend, I’ll pull on my gardening shirt and head outdoors to get my hands dirty and clear away the last of Winter’s dullness. Dead branches and dried weeds--make way for flowering plants and an herb garden! I’ve learned that gardening takes patience, and sometimes I just can’t wait for those first beautiful sprouts to mature into full-grown plants. That’s why I’m going to give Mother Nature a jumpstart with the topsy-turvy tomato plant, which will soon be laden with juicy tomatoes to add to a fresh green salad or slice up for a tasty sandwich. Hey, do you think it would be possible to grow my own hops and barley garden so next year I can add a cold glass of beer to that tomato sandwich? I’ll let you know!
